General Information:

These umbrella-shaped leaves grow as vigorous groundcover in moist soils. It is a native, herbaceous, and perennial weed commonly found in swamps, ditches, and open moist areas. It most commonly blooms during the late spring and through the fall season. It is named dollarweed for the silver-dollar sized leaves produced. It is most commonly pollinated by butterflies, but can spread through it’s creeping vines. It also produced seeds which are eaten and spread. 

Medicinal Uses:

Dollarweed has been used in folk medicine as an anti-inflammatory, anxiolytic, and a memory stimulant. Ingesting the leaves directly can cause nausea.

The dollarweed is a member of the carrot family and can be submerged up to 4 inches deep and still continue to grow and survive.
