General Information:
Growing up to 15 meters tall, the Cassia tree can be identified by its bark, smooth and grey when it’s young and rough and dark when it’s old. The golden tree can have many uses such as charcoal, fuel, timber and dyes. The tree produces bright yellow flowers about 3-4cm in diameter and small, cylindrical fruit pods.
Medicinal Uses:
The tree is extensively used in ethnomedicine having antibacterial and pharmacological activities. The leaf extracts contain antidiarrheal properties.
Did You Know:
Cassia seeds can remain viable for over a year after removal from the tree, or more than 3 years if kept in storage at room temperature.
