Endangered Sea Turtle Program


One of the ocean's fastest disappearing species is the Sea Turtle.  The turtle, which has been long hunted for its shell for decorations and for food, is rapidly being depleted from the ocean by everyday fishermen.  As the photos below show, turtles ingest baited hooks and these hooks become lodged inside the turtle.  The turtle is no longer able to eat and usually dies of starvation or infection.

You can help prevent this loss of sea life.  The use of degradable fishing hooks would be one of the easiest solutions to this problems.  If digested the hook would decompose and the turtle would have a chance of survival.  For more information on Sea Turtles, please click on the links below.
